We think of communications to include the telephone & cellular companies, the internet, the postal service, and package delivery service.
TelMex, Mexico's government operated telephone company, is the sole source for the installation of telephones in homes & businesses. TelMex offers a wide range of services of which internet dial-up and DSL are included. TelMex also sells Phone Cards at all convenience stores within Mexico. The Phone Cards can be used at any of the telephone booths which are scattered throughout every town and city.
TelCel, a privately held cellular company, sells telephone cards with prepaid minutes which can be used on cell phones you purchase from them. Many cellular telephones from the states can be reprogrammed by TelCel representatives to work on the TelCel system.
If you're here for a week or a month you will be communicating with your stateside family and business through the use of internet in your hotel and internet shops, TelCel, and TelMex Phone Cards.
There are several popular internet businesses in Alamos both in town and scattered throughout the barrios. Here are a couple of those establishments.

We do not have Fedex or UPS available in either Alamos or nearby Navajoa. We do have DHL in Navojoa just 45 minutes away. When you send a DHL shipment from the states it actually goes to CD Obregon to the north and is forwarded south to Navojoa for your pickup.
The Postal Service in this area sends everything to Mexico City to be processed. Expect mail to take 3 weeks coming or going between Alamos and the states.
Many of the North Americans use San Xavier's Mexican Insurance in Nogales, Arizona as a mail site. When people are returning from Tucson they stop at San Xavier's and bring all of the mail and packages across the border to Alamos. The mail is left at Casa de Maria Felix for pick-up. Normally people who use this service provided by Bob Acosta of San Xavier's purchase their car insurance through his business as a gesture of appreciation.
